How do I help my child become a better reader? And in turn, grow to love reading?

Reading is a crucial skill in today's society, impacting various aspects of life, from every-day-life, education to career opportunities. It's disheartening to see individuals struggle with reading, as it can lead to a cascade of challenges, including disengagement from education and eventually dropping out of school entirely. Identifying underlying issues is key to addressing reading difficulties effectively. Interventions and programs aimed at improving to mitigate these challenges offer individuals hope for the future and unlock their potential for lifelong success in reading and beyond.

Most children who have difficulties in reading are bright, verbal and have outstanding verbal memories. For these children, simply exhorting them to "work harder" isn't effective because the root isn’t being dealt with. Contact Vantage Vision and Reading to receive targeted interventions and support.

  • My son's reading has become much smoother and more fluent. The biggest change has been to see him pick up a book without many pictures, and watch him READ the story! In two months, he was able to track with his eyes across the lines of print (something he couldn't do before). He is so pleased with himself, and I can see his confidence grow! His writing reversals have also seen some improvements. -TB

  • "I've never had this... he's reading on his own because he wants to."

  • S couldn’t hit a baseball that was pitched to him last summer and I noticed this spring after the eye exercises that he suddenly could do it. And he can catch much better. It seems like his hand-eye coordination is better.

  • “I was just telling my husband this morning how much her reading has improved in the last week. Even her spelling words practice at home last night… only had one wrong. I’m so happy for her. I always felt she was struggling…”

-E’s mom a few weeks after completing her daughter’s program

  • (Our) daughter was having headaches at school and home. (After the VVR program) there was noticeable difference in my daughter's ability to track and hold a pencil. Her headaches also went away and haven't returned. -AB

  • Have your expectations been met? "Absolutely!"

  • I’ve been meaning to send you an update on E. I am SO impressed by the speed at which her reading picked up since we completed the eye program. She went from barely being able to decode small words to fairly fluently reading picture books in only a couple of months. I noticed in the weeks following the program that her reading finally took off and she enjoys reading now. She caught up to her classmates after being probably one of the furthest behind from Sept-Jan. It was amazing to see. -E's mom

  • Our daughter can read so much better and more fluently. There has also been less complaints of headaches.

  • My son had difficulty focusing and reading was slow, his school recommended him to have a VVR screening done. My sons experience with the program was great! Even though he was a little older he enjoyed the therapy sessions and all the products used. After a short time of therapy our son felt he could read better than before. The program only took a few weeks. Colleen worked great with our son. She made his reading and learning so much better! -D’s Mom

  • (Our) daughter…would miss out on instruction because she was not focused.

Have your expectations been met? Yes, they have. Shockingly after 1 session of instruction and then many weeks of consistent eye training our daughter does her non focused look only a few times.
