How do I know if my child needs the Vantage Vision & Reading Program?

These are a few symptoms that signify the program may be helpful:

  • These are a few symptoms that can manifest in a child:

    • Poor reading comprehension: the child can't remember words just read.  

    • Head tilt: the child tilts their head, reading more with one eye.

    • Blurring/doubling: child complains of headaches or squints

    • Skipping words or lines: The child may also add/remove words parts or may need to point the entire time during reading

    • Reading in monotone: The child has limited expression and does not stop at punctuation

    • Word for word reading: the child's reading is stilted, choppy and unnatural

    • The child may express they don't enjoy reading, and will not pick up a book on their own

    • The child may be anxious or nervous and show signs of stress like swinging legs or fidgeting in their seat

    • The child is easily distracted, any noise in the room will make them look away and pictures may be distracting.

    • Poor pencil grip: Pencil grip will be a thumb-thrust or a 3-finger hold.

    • Poor sizing, size + information: Printing can be a mixture of dark and light writing in addition to poor spacing, size, and formation.

    • Frequent erasing: In some cases, they will correct so many times that holes will be created in the paper. 

Program Costs

We offer free 5-minute consultations to determine whether or not your child might benefit from our program. This is not mandatory, you may request a full assessment to begin with. 

Screenings

If an assessment is required we will book a 40-minute assessment at the cost of $80.

Full Assessments

Re-assessments

You can expect the program to take 6-8 weeks.  A re-assessment will be done every two weeks until the program is completed. Re-assessments cost $40.


Training the Tutor

Tutors can be taught how to guide a student through the Vantage Vision + Reading Program. After conducting a full assessment we will plan a custom program and a tutor can then conduct the recommended program with the student at home for 5 days a week until the program is completed. ​Pricing for the training ranges from $25-$50.
